Doctrinal Statement
This is a Doctrinal Statement affixed to my personal beliefs and not copied, or plagiarized in any way. I
do concede that I am the product of the local church. Any flaw in my understanding of scripture is not to reflect on any of
the Pastors and churches I have been a member of, but of my own lack. I continue to search the scripture trusting only in
their author to bring me to fruition. Though He may choose to use other channels, the Bible is my final source of Proof and
Authority. I am open to evaluation from a scriptural standpoint.
I. The Doctrine of the Scripture
I believe every word of God is pure, Proverbs 30:5, and is inspired in and of Himself, II Tim. 3:16, without
error in the original text and preserved for us in the KJB. Just as the Aaronic priesthood preserved the Old Testament Scripture
and the Priesthood of Believers preserved the New Testament. I believe the KJB was translated without error as the Spirit
of God intervened in the lives of the panel of translators who did this monumental work. Matt. 5:18, Luke 16:17, Matt. 24:34,
Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33. I use only the KJB to preach from and study for lessons and sermons. Ps. 12:6-7, I Peter 1:25. I believe
I must clarify by saying in Spanish; I use the closest Bible they have to the KJB, which is taken from the received text.
As I am not a scholar, I must confess I bow to the wisdom of my colleges who are also KJB only, and have studied the issue
as I have and I continue to do so that I might be better equipped to serve the Mexican people and most of all, my Savior.
II. God
The only God I know is the God of the afore mentioned Scripture. He reveals himself in “3”
persons:
1. God the Father - Gen. 2:4 and Ex. 3:14 - Who in and of Himself being without end or beginning. Created all
things - Gen. 1:1,27, all powerful - Gen. 17:1-8, all sufficient, all knowing - Ps. 44:21, Ps. 94:11, Matt. 11:27. He is gentle
and loving - John 3:16. Knew us before time and creation - Eph. 1:4. God is Spirit - John 4:24. He has manifested himself
in Flesh - John 1:14.
2. His Son, Jesus The Christ - Matt. 16:16 - God from the beginning as His Father is and was so is
He - John 1:1,14. Called the Word in English - John 1:1,14, I John 5:7, which I believe to be Inspired, Preserved Scripture.
Called the Verb in Spanish, which denotes action as to His, being Co-Creator - John 1:10, Col. 1:16, and Rev. 4:11. He is
accredited with the same attributes as His Father as they are one - John 5:18 & 10:30. He is the Messiah of Scripture
- John 4:22 & 26. He was born physically as a human being of a Virgin - Matt. 1:18, Gal. 4:4, but this was not His beginning
or end - John 1:1 & Rev. 1:18. He is the Preeminent one - Col. 1:17-20. He died, was buried, and rose the 3rd day - I
Cor. 15:1-4. His death was prophesied - Gen. 3:15 & Is. 53. His death was physical - I Cor. 11:23-26. His death was substitutionary
- Is. 53:5-6, I Peter 3:18, I Peter 2:24, II Cor. 5:21. His death was sacrificial Rom. 3:24-26. His death was sufficient &
satisfactory - Is. 53:10-11, Matt. 28:27, & John 19:30.
3. The Holy Spirit - I believe the scripture teaches the Holy
Spirit resides in us as people who through His work in our lives bring us to knowledge of God and the finished Substitutionary
work of Jesus Christ. I Cor. 12:12-13, I believe speaks of how we are placed into Christ by His work. He is a Person - Acts
5:3, He is God, He fills us with power to serve - Acts 4:31, 5:32, 6:3, 11:24. I believe the God Head speaks of deity; they
are all 3 in one working together and inseparable in their purpose - Col. 2:9, Rom. 1:20, I John 5:7-8. As I have explained,
I believe in the Trinity of God - Matt. 28:19, Matt. 3:15-17, & Gen. 1:20, 4:22, 11:7. God the Father, Son, & Holy
Ghost are one - I John 5:7
III. Salvation
Salvation is by faith in God's Grace - Tit. 3:5, Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 4:5-16, Acts 15:11, Rom. 3:24. I believe
in what the Bible teaches us about how we get saved. Repentance or a change of mind brought about by the ministry of the Holy
Spirit, Luke 18:11-13, as we realize by the Scripture, Rom. 10:17, that we cannot save ourselves that we're hopelessly lost
without Christ - Rom. 3:10,20,28, James 3:10, Gal. 3:10 & 2:16. We find ourselves throwing ourselves at God's mercy. We
then are forgiven based on what Christ did for us - Rom. 4:8,25, 5:1,19. This faith that God gives us as we respond to Him
is a faith that produces fruit - Rom. 10:17 & James 2:18-24, but the bottom line is that God's character teaches that
it is He who saves and keeps - Ecc. 3:14, Gen. 15:6-18, II Tim. 1:12 & II Tim. 2:19. I believe that salvation is a continuing
process - Eph. 2:10. He keeps us - John 10:28, 29 & John 5:24. We know we are saved - I John 5:10-15. I believe the Scripture
teaches Christ's spirit went to the center of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights - I Cor. 3:18-20, Matt. 12:40, & Eph.
4:8-10. While His body lay in the tomb - John 19:38-42 & Luke 23:50-53. I believe Christ ascended to place His own blood
on the mercy seat in Heaven - Heb. 9:22-28.
IV. Heaven & Hell
I believe that Heaven is a real place - John 14:1-3, Rev. 21:1-5, likewise Hell is literal - II Thess. 1:9,
Matt. 24:41, Matt. 25:46 & Mark 9:43-49.
V. After Death
I believe when we die as saved people our body goes in the tomb and our soul and spirit goes immediately to
Heaven and awaits the resurrection. II Cor. 5:8, & I Co. 15:50-54, shows us a change that God will make in us physically,
Glorified body - I Thess. 3:13-18
VI. Return of Christ
I believe in the soon to be physical return of Christ, first in the sky as He raises those who have died in
Him to accompany Him back to heaven - I Thess. 3:16. Along with those saved who physically remain on this earth at this time
- Matt. 24, Rev. 4:2-19:7, & Rev. 19:11-20:3. I believe the taking out of His saints comes before the all out unleashing
of God's wrath on this earth - II Thess. 5:9. There again because of the character of God, I cannot believe He will leave
any who have trusted Christ - Gen. 19:22. There will be a time of 7 years on this earth which will end with an all out battle
between the Christ and the unbelieving nations of this world - Rev. 18.
VII. The Marriage Supper
The Marriage Supper - Rev. 19:7-9, will take place in Heaven during that dreadful uncorking of God's wrath
on earth. Before this I believe He will judge the works of His Saints - I Cor. 3:10-15 & II Cor. 5:10,11. To reward those
who have served faithfully and disclose the unfaithfulness of others.
VIII. Millennial Rein of Christ
I believe there will be a 1000-year reign of Christ on this earth during which time the devil is bound - Rev.
20:1-4.
IX. Baptism
I believe Baptism is a step of obedience after belief and it is a fruit of repentance and not a part of Salvation
- Acts 3:19, Acts 12:38, Mark 16:16, & Acts 9:36-37. I believe it is to be by submersion only to show the death, burial
and resurrection of Christ - Matt. 3:15-17 & Acts 9:37-39. I believe Christ gave the statement to be used when baptizing
- Matt. 28:19. I will not accept another form, mode or philosophy regarding Baptism. Only those who have accepted and received
Christ and His salvation first, will be baptized in any work I start or associate with.
X. Tongues
I don't believe there was but one-way of speaking in tongues in the New Testament. - Acts 2, 10:44-46 &
19:7. I believe they were known languages. This was a sign gift to early believers - Mark 16:17-20 & I Cor. 14:22. Not
all did it - I Cor, 12:30. By 2 or 3 and always by interpreter. It ceased at the time of the completion of the New Testament
- I Cor. 13:8,10. It is not for today. I further believe those who do it are deceived and many to the point of not seeing
the things that are important that God has reserved for the obedient - Acts 5:32. Some blinded so as not to get saved or learn
anything necessary to grow spiritually by such as winning the lost by the power of the Holy Spirit.
XI. Soul Winning
I believe the occupation and main concern of the early church was to win souls - Matt. 28:19,20 & Acts
5:42. This being the case we are called upon as Christians to do no less.
I believe the church is an organism which explains it's appearance and embryonic
XII. The Church
stage in the Gospels - Matt. 16:18 & Matt. 18:17. It received full power on Pentecost as it was born -
Acts 2. The book of Acts is transitional and gives us guidelines in our application of doctrine such as the teaching on the
Holy Spirit. I believe He indwells us - I Cor. 12:12-13. From the point of our new birth - I Peter 1:23. He fills us for service
- Eph. 5:14-20, as we obey and submit to His will.
XIII. Missions
I believe that Bible missions is the local assembly (Baptist Church), starting other churches by means of
sending out men who are called of God and have shown fruit of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives - Acts 13:1-5
& Acts 14:21-28. Show how Paul evangelized the lost, educated the saved and established churches by doing so. He then
returned to exhort those that sent him on how God did it.
XIV. Personal Testimony
I do not agree with the modern Ecumenical movement - II Co. 6:17-18. I am an Independent Baptist, sent out
of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Covington, IN - Acts 13:1-4. I am not an independent missionary, I choose to be accountable
to that church and it's pastor - Acts 14:27. If at anytime you call in question any of my practices or beliefs, please contact
my Pastor or me. I will be open and willing to listen to your ideas, but reserve the right as a Christian to follow Christ,
as I believe He would have me to.
My wife, daughter and I are separated from the world unto God to serve Him in Mexico.
I was saved in August of 1966, at 13 years of age in a Southern Baptist youth camp. I have grown spiritually
since I came out of the SBC in 1980. This no doubt was due to scriptural emphasis and My God changed attitude towards it.
I served through Liberty Baptist Church in Ephrata, PA, for 20 years where I was Deacon, Sunday School Teacher,
Christian School Administrator, Assistant Pastor, Children Church Teacher, Bus Director, and Chairman of Deacons, serving
also for a short time as Interim Pastor. This church taught me, worked me, ordained me and sent me to the mission field. I
owe a great debt to it and its pastors as I do my current sending church and associating supporting churches. I graduated
from Northeast Baptist School of Theology in Downingtown, PA, in May of 1994.
My wife, Sandra, was saved in December of 1981, as we arrived at Liberty Baptist Church. She taught in the
Christian School and was Administrator, Children's Church, a Sunday School Teacher, and Church Secretary. We are married one
time to each other and resolve to stay that way after 35 years of marriage and seeing God's teaching on the matter.
My daughter, Jessica, was saved at our church during a Dolphus Price Revival meeting at the age of 11. She
has worked in the bus ministry and now has a route in Mexico, teaches Children's Church and a Kid's Club, and is an integral
part of the ministry here.
God called me to Mexico during a trip with Carlos Demarest of Bearing Precious Seed of First Baptist Church of Milford, Ohio. After 2 years of deputation we came to Mexico as missionaries in January of 1996.
We studied the language at Latin American Training Institute of Worldwide Fundamental Baptist Missions in Aguascalientes.
Two months after arriving in Aguascalientes, I took a church whose pastor turned the work over to me while
he went on furlough. I then started the “First Liberty Baptist Church of Jesus Maria”, which is a suburb of Aguascalientes.
We did this as we turned the first church back over to its original Pastor. We then launched a Bible Institute and two more
churches which we worked till I turned them over to missionaries. I hope to continue to start churches in this area and to
one day start a home for children. We have 5 clubs for children each week in order to reach them and move them into the local
church. As we minister to these kids we see the great need to supply a caring Christian home to those who have nowhere to
go.
We maintain financial support through Independent Baptist Churches of like faith.
This was a brief statement and no doubt incomplete in comparison to all the scripture I could have used. Please
feel free to ask for clarifications.
Thanks for your help.
